Journalist Megyn Kelly slammed Selena Gomez for weeping on camera for the ‘illegal immigrants’ who are being raided and deported by the Trump administration and said that it is not a natural behavior. Calling Gomez’s on-camera breakdown humiliating, Kelly said most people with a touch of dignity try to hold back tears in front of the camera. “If you are in front of the camera it is for some reason. If your voice is important, you owe the people an obligation to share it. It’s not to say you should be some emotionless troll the entire time you are on the air,” Kelly said adding that what she did is what an actress does — manufacture tears — with a 422 million followers on her Instagram account.
“I just wanted to say that I’m so sorry. All my people are getting attacked. The children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise,” Selena Gomez said sobbing; and then she deleted the video.
“She decides to go on Instagram and cry tears about all the illegal children, I guess, who might be subject to deportation. But she deleted it after her fans taught her that the majority of the country stands behind these policies. I’m sure she was shocked to get any blowback whatsoever,” Megyn Kelly said.
“Obviously, this is an unwell person. Anybody who takes their phone (and films like that) is a sick person. Tears happen… but I don’t understand the person who works it and tries to squeeze out more tears to make themselves look extra sad,” said Kelly.
Selena Gomez faces massive backlash after sobbing on camera
Conservative TV commentator Tomi Lahren wrote, “Certified moron @selenagomez crying for criminal illegal aliens is really something else. This is why we don’t take our political advice from Disney child stars.” Political commentator Savanah Hernandez said, “Selena Gomez filmed herself ugly crying about the current mass deportations. Because of course the out of touch celebrity with zero understanding of how dangerous our country has become is crying for the criminals being deported. How pathetic.”
“Selena Gomez is crying because of mass deportations. She says she, ‘Doesn’t know what to do.’ Did she ever cry about the Americans killed by illegals? Of course not,” one wrote.
“Selena Gomez shares a video crying about the deportations. You are welcome to leave as well. This also goes for everyone trying to stop mass deportations. No one will miss you!” another wrote.
Gomez’s aunt and her paternal grandparents emigrated from Mexico to the US in the 1970s. Her parents, Ricardo Gomez and Mandy Teefey, were both born in America.
