This week’s new heavy metal releases include pop metal discussed in the correct week (hopefully), a complication for a good cause, and more! To the metals…
Babymetal – Metal Forth
Genre: Power/alternative metal
Origin: Tokyo, Japan
Label: Capitol
Buy now on Amazon
Starting this week off with another catchy as hell pop metal record from Babymetal. Despite being called Metal Forth, this is their fifth album. So close to a fun play on words. Anyway, this one has hella guests. You’ve got Poppy, Electric Callboy, Slaughter To Prevail, Bloodwood, Polyphia, Spiritbox, and Tom Morello.
Blackbraid – Blackbraid III

Genre: Atmopsheric metal
Origin: Adirondack Mountains
Label: Self-released
Buy now from Bandcamp
Blackbraid keep busy. This is the band’s third album since their inception in 2022. III is another record of atmospheric black metal that while dark, doesn’t feel evil.
Crypt Sermon – Saturnian Appendices

Genre: Epic doom
Origin: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Label: Dark Descent
Buy now from Bandcamp
Crypt Sermon are another band that are keeping their momentum going. A little over a year since The Stygian Rose and they’re already back with these four songs. One of them is a Mayhem cover which is super cool in their grand style.
Halestorm – Everest

Genre: Hard rock/heavy metal
Origin: Red Lion, Pennsylvania
Label: Atlantic
Buy now from Amazon
Album number six from Lzzy and the gang is another rocker. You’re getting plenty of their trademark OG heavy metal worship, but there is plenty of new ground for them here. The title-track feels especially lurching and menacing.
Sinsaenum – In Devastation

Genre: Blackened death metal
Origin: France/United States/Hungary
Label: earMusic
Buy now from Amazon
After seven years, Sinsaenum has returned. The Frédéric Leclercq (ex-DragonForce) led supergroup has Joey Jordison‘s former tech André Joyzi stepping behind the kit and he crushes it. The Dååth, Mayhem, etc. hybrid group has been underrated for years, and perhaps this is the one to push them into the spotlight a bit more.
Various Artists – The Dogs Of Hope

Genre: Metal
Origin: Various
Label: Iodine Recordings
Buy now from Bandcamp
Wrapping with a really cool compilation for a good cause. This record features exclusive tracks from Killswitch Engage, Snapcase, Deadguy, and more. All the proceeds go to The Randolph County Animal Shelter which is “a no-kill, privately run facility that’s saved thousands of animal lives despite operating without public funding or county support.” The songs rip so it’s doubly worth your dollar.
