The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Streams OZZY’s 2024 Acceptance Speech, Tribute Performance & Induction

In the wake of Ozzy Osbourne‘s passing on July 22, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has paid tribute to the heavy metal legend by releasing the full all-star performance from his solo induction ceremony held last October. The powerful tribute celebrated Osbourne‘s monumental impact as a solo artist, decades after his first induction with Black Sabbath in 2006. This emotional look back arrives just days after the world lost one of rock and metal’s most iconic voices at the age of 76.

Ozzy‘s solo induction into the Hall last fall was a star-studded affair, packed with performances from some of the biggest names in rock and metal. Among the talent assembled to honor the Prince of Darkness were his longtime guitarist Zakk Wylde, Metallica‘s Robert Trujillo — who also once served as part of Ozzy‘s backing band — Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan, rock icon Billy Idol, and genre-bending country rocker Jelly Roll.

While Osbourne did not sing during the televised ceremony itself — largely due to ongoing health concerns — newly surfaced behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage has given fans a glimpse of a raw and poignant moment from the day before the show. That rehearsal video captures Ozzy singing one of his most beloved solo tracks, the 1991 power ballad “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”

During the rehearsal, Jelly Roll, who performed the final version of “Mama, I’m Coming Home” at the induction event, was not present. Stepping in, Ozzy delivered the vocals himself with Jack Black — who inducted him into the Hall — sitting beside him in support. The stripped-back setting and Ozzy‘s vulnerable performance created an emotionally charged and intimate scene that now serves as a lasting memory for fans of the metal pioneer.

Check out all the Ozzy-centric footage above and below. It’s hard to believe this was only one year ago, and even harder to believe the man himself is gone.
