The B-52s’ Kate Pierson Selling Woodstock Cabin

It’s no “Love Shack,” but now you too can own a piece of The B-52s’ rich history as singer Kate Pierson has put her Woodstock, New York cabin up for sale. Sorry, there’s seemingly no pond or an accompanying “Rock Lobster” on the property.

The aptly-titled, three-bed, two-bath Kate’s Lazy Cabin (which the singer co-owns with her wife, visual artist Monica Coleman) is settled on two acres at 40 Mink Hollow Road. The single-family residence was built in 1951 and is said to “radiate eclectic soul, bold personality, and a deep connection to creativity — just like the town it calls home.”

The listing goes on to tout the house’s “curb appeal” and its “layered expression of vintage charm and artistic flair,” with plenty of “wood tones, cozy nooks, and whimsical details throughout.” It’s also been marketed as a “full-time residence, a weekend hideaway, or a creative retreat.” No word yet if you can “Party Out of Bounds” while visiting, or its actual proximity to a “Private Idaho.”

In the lead up the cabin’s sale, Pierson and Coleman have made several updates/modifications in recent years. That includes “bathroom renovations, central air, and a vaulted kitchen space round out the easy-to-manage footprint.” And if you decide to “Roam” outside, it’s just a few minutes stroll to both the Beaver Kill stream as well as Cooper Lake. Then you’ve just got to take the “Dirty Back Road” home to your picturesque cabin.

While no one at Consequence is a real estate expert, browsing the listing’s many photos (or instead take the virtual tour below) offers a real sense of the cabin’s singular charm. A blend of down-home familiarity and oddball vibes, the cabin does seem to perfectly mirror the unique aesthetic that Pierson and her bandmates have cultivated over the many years. There’s both a lived-in quality as much as an emphasis on daring creative expression, and what you get feels very much like your own private “Mesopotamia.”

The asking price is $750,000, which might seem like an awful lot of “Legal Tender” but it’s actually quite worth it to own the home of bona fide indie rock royalty. Check out the listing here; you can contact agent Jason Nadeau at jason.nadeau@compass.com. (We hope he doesn’t get too many wacky emails because of this article.)

If the cabin’s just too rich for your blood, you can just catch The B-52s on tour with DEVO later this fall. (get tickets here). Still, you could buy the house, attend a show, and have ample leverage for one hell of an after-party.
