The Tata Sierra, in both its EV and ICE avatars, are two of the most hotly anticipated new cars launching in India this year. The company had showcased the Sierra EV in near-production guise at the Auto Expo 2023, but some details were still concept-like, especially on the inside. Now, a leaked design patent image gives us a first glimpse at the production-spec Tata Sierra EV interior. Let’s take a closer look.
- Tata Sierra EV to get a different dashboard from Sierra ICE
- Is expected to come in regular 5-seat and 4-seat lounge configurations
- Launch is expected by end of 2025
Tata Sierra EV interior design leaked
Remains true to the concept
Design patent of Sierra EV dashboard
The first look at the Tata Sierra EV interior reveals that the production-spec model will indeed remain largely unchanged from the concept. The dashboard is dominated by a large central touchscreen (likely 12-inch) that’s connected to the digital instrument cluster binnacle. Below the touchscreen are the central AC vents that appear a lot more prominent than they were on the concept, and the side AC vents are neatly integrated within horizontal lines running across the dashboard. The familiar four-spoke steering wheel has also been retained.
Expected with unique accessories for personalisation
A lot of design cues have been retained from the near-production model’s interior.Â
The dashboard has a nice stepped effect that swoops down, and there’s also a centrally mounted speaker, which has been retained from the concept. The moss inserts from the concept, however, do not seem to have materialised into production, but Martin Ulharik, head of design at Tata Motors, has previously said to us that the company can offer it as an accessory should buyers want to customize the interior. This could also include options like mini flower vases for the door pads, fold-out tray tables and ambient lamp shades. Apart from a regular bench-type rear seat, the Sierra EV is also expected to come in a 4-seat lounge configuration with ottoman function for the rear seats.

A lounge-style interior in 4-seat configuration is expected on the Sierra EV.
As for some of the switchgear, we expect the Sierra EV to borrow the touch-based HVAC panel and drive selector lever from the Curvv EV. The centre console will also likely retain the floating design with additional storage spaces below it, as was seen on the concept.
Different interior design compared to ICE-powered Sierra
What’s interesting is that the Sierra EV will have a different dashboard from the ICE-powered Sierra. The latter was showcased earlier this year at the Auto Expo with a triple screen layout spanning the width of the dashboard. This is pretty unusual for ICE and EV counterparts, observable in Tata’s own lineup, but it should help differentiate the two products well.
Tata Sierra EV technical details, launch timeline
Unfortunately, technical details of the Sierra EV are currently scarce, but it is expected to share Tata’s Acti.EV architecture with the Curvv EV. The Sierra EV can be expected to be positioned slightly above the Curvv EV, and below the upcoming Harrier EV. Unlike the latter which will have AWD variants, the Sierra EV will be front wheel drive. Prices for the Sierra EV can be expected to range between Rs 20 lakh-25 lakh (ex-showroom).Â
The Sierra EV is expected to launch by end of 2025, after the ICE-powered Sierra goes on sale. Upon launch, it will see competition from the likes of the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric and upcoming Maruti e Vitara in the growing segment of midsize electric SUVs. Â
