The Volkswagen I.D.Buzz is incredibly unique and to a degree has its very own segment in the USA. Despite that, our impression after driving it was that it cost too much and didn’t have enough range. Now, one dealer in Indiana has decided that rather than try to sell it from their lot directly, they’re going to auction it off, giving everyone a front-row seat to see what the open market will pay for one of these retro mobiles.
This revived VW Bus offers some of the very best packaging in the business, and it’s also quicker than one might expect. At the same time, it’s a tough sell at around $70,000. That’s not just our opinion either. That’s the sentiment found in many of the 100+ comments on the Bring A Trailer auction page for this van.

Originally shipped to Vorderman Volkswagen in Fort Wayne, the current selling dealer is actually Best Deal Auto Sales in the same area. According to a worker at Vorderman, “We were hoping they’d keep it and enjoy it longer as we know they are big VW enthusiasts but it’s okay. Hopefully some positive exposure on the Buzz is the outcome of this listing.” Sadly, for VW, it doesn’t seem like positive exposure is exactly what it’s getting.
First, it’s a bit odd to begin with to see a 2025 model for sale on the platform. Second, in rare cases where such new cars do show up, they’re often truly rare or have a wealthy following eager to dip into their pockets. In this case though, the I.D.Buzz has just five bids with little more than a day to go before the hammer drops. As of this writing, the high bid is just $50,000.
Keep in mind that this is a 1st Edition trim with all-wheel drive, 20-inch wheels, and faux leather upholstery. Photos from the auction show that this exact van had an MSRP of $72,900. While a few dealers around the country are still putting markups on their ID Buzz models, even more are advertising it at or below MSRP. If this thing goes for anywhere close to the $50,000 bid on it now, it could make a great daily driver, despite its abysmal 234-mile range.
